Company History

It all started in 1975 when Daniel Rindler founded Rindler Landscape with a few hundred dollars, an old pick up truck, and a dream. His plan was to make a living selling landscape services to homeowners and businesses in Dayton, Ohio. As the years passed Daniel’s two sons Stephen and Jamie Rindler worked under their father while growing up and on through college during the summers. They attended the Ohio State University together where Stephen obtained Landscape Horticulture and Landscape Construction degrees, while Jamie studied Landscape Architecture and Business Administration. Together the three combined their skills and knowledge to build the successful family enterprise Rindler Landscape, a company specializing in Landscape Maintenance, Construction and Landscape Lighting.

Jamie found his interest in Landscape Lighting. He furthered his knowledge through reading, attending seminars and installing systems with his father. While studying Landscape Architecture at Ohio State, he began designing and installing landscape lighting systems with his partner Matt Brewer on the weekends to help pay for school. This weekend hobby eventually turned into Softscape Outdoor Lighting.

Softscape has become the premier landscape lighting company in the Columbus and surrounding areas. Softscape is the first and only of its kind right here in Columbus Ohio, while most competing companies are franchises that were established from other cities across the country. At Softscape we understand dealing with contractors is sometimes a difficult thing to do. From our initial contact, to our free evening demonstration and through the installation process we build a personal relationship with our customers. We make sure every client’s expectation is exceeded. No one accomplishes this better than Matt Brewer and Darren Jackson. Matt received his BSBA from Ohio State with a specialization in Marketing while Darren studied Financial Management also at Ohio State. In addition to Jamie’s background and experience, he is also a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) and belongs to the Associated Landscape Contractors of America (ALCA).
